Message
for the Week : The Easiest Path |
Though, Sai Baba acted outwardly like an ordinary man, His action showed extraordinary wisdom and skill. Whatever He did, was done for the good of His devotees. He never prescribed any Asan, regulation of breathing or any rites to His Bhaktas, nor did He blow any Mantra into their ears. He told them to leave off all cleverness, and always remember "Sai" "Sai". If you did that, He said, all your shackles would be removed and you would be free. Sitting through five fires, sacrifices, chanting, eight-fold Yoga are possible for the Brahmins only, they are of no use to the other classes. The function of the mind is to think, it cannot remain without thinking for a minute. If you give it a sense-object, it will think about it. If you give it Guru, it will think about Guru.
Hearing the stories of the saints is not so difficult, as the other Sadhanas, mentioned above. The stories remove all fear of this Sansar (worldly existence) and take you on to the spiritual path. So, listen to these stories, meditate on them and assimilate them. You may attend to your worldly duties, but give your mind to Sai and His stories, and then, He is sure to bless you. This is the easiest path, but why do not all take to it? The reason is that without God's grace, we do not get the desire to listen to the stories of saints. With God's grace everything is smooth and easy. Hearing the stories of the saints is, in a way, keeping their company. The importance of the company of the saints is very great. It removes our body-consciousness and egoism, destroys completely the chain of our birth and death, cuts asunder all the knots of the mind and takes us to God, Who is pure consciousness. It certainly increases our non-attachment to sense objects and makes us quite indifferent to pleasures and pains, and leads us onward on the spiritual path. If you have no other Sadhana, such as uttering God's name, worship or devotion etc. but if you take refuge in them (saints) whole-heartedly, they will carry you off safely across the ocean of worldly existence. It is for this reason that the saints manifest themselves in this world. Even sacred rivers such as the Ganges, Godavari, Krishna and Kaveri etc., which wash away the sins of the world, desire that the saints should come to them, for a bath and purify them. Such is the grandeur of the Saint. It is on account of the store of merit in past births that we have attained the feet of Sai Baba.
Let us meditate on Sai's Form. He, the graceful and handsome Sai, standing on the edge of the Masjid and distributing Udi to each and every Bhakta, with a view to his welfare, He, Who thinks of the world as an illusion and Who is ever engrossed in Supreme Bliss - before Him, we humbly prostrate ourselves.
Chapter 10....Shri
Sai Satcharitra |
Baba
Said.... |
"Baba
said "Rama (the God of the Hindus) and Rahim (the God
of the Mohammedans) were one and the same; there was not the
slightest difference between them; why should their devotees
fall out and quarrel among themselves? You ignorant folk,
children, join hands and bring both the communities
together, act sanely and thus you will gain your object of
national unity".

Question
of the Week...Devotees Asked...Guruji Answered
|
Question
: What is the way of offering our true service to Baba in return of so much He gives to us?
Answer
:
The true service is to improve our qualities and be of some use for His cause, i.e. to serve humanity around you. Baba did reveal to some people that His consciousness covered even dogs, horses, etc.

Devotee's
Experience : Experienced Darshan / Omnipresence |
Contributed
by Sai Bhakta
This happened in the North eastern United States. During the peak of winter I once had to travel around 5 in the morning to reach a client's office in time for our morning meeting. The Boston commuter rail took me to the nearest railway station which was around 15 miles from the office I wanted to go to. It was 6:20 in the morning - it was a harsh winter, and a strong wind was blowing. There was not a soul to be seen and there were no sidewalks for me to walk on. My ears and nose were hurting, I was wet, and despite many layers of clothing, I was shivering with cold. Because of the snow, I wasn't able to walk to any shelter as well.
Throughout this period I kept on praying to Baba. I had full faith in him and was sure that he would help me out. I kept on standing there for a long while before, with the help of some passers-by, I managed to call a local cab service who said it would take them 30 minutes to send a cab.
After a long wait, a couple of minutes before the time they had mentioned, a cab came over and asked me to get in quickly. I was numb with cold and kept on praying to Baba throughout the journey. I also told myself that if the taxi fare was $50, I would give the person a $5 tip.
A mile before I reached my destination, I got a call on my cell phone
from the cab company informing me that my cab has been waiting for me at the train station. I was extremely surprised to hear that! When I looked at my driver's face in the mirror, he had very kind eyes, had a white beard and was covering his head with a cap which was also white in colour. I was struck by the resemblance that this man had with Baba. I soon reached my destination and wonder of wonders - the taxi fare was exactly 50 dollars!!!
I gave 55 dollars to the person and asked for a receipt - he handed me a piece of paper and drove off. As soon as the cab left, a strong gust of wind came by and swept the piece of paper from my hand and despite my running after it, I could never find it.
Who was this driver? How did he reach me? How come he resembled Baba so closely? Why did the fare come to exactly what I had wished? How did the receipt "develop wings" and fly away?
I am absolutely certain that it was all Baba's leela. I surrender myself at Baba's feet! Nothing in this Universe can move without his wish.
