Message for the Week : The Master - A True Friend

Once a Master takes upon Himself immense load of responsibility and He tells the disciple that he is neither body nor mind nor intellect, but something more glorious - soul or spirit, Jiva realises that he is no longer a slave of his senses engaged in sensual pursuits, but finds an inner satisfaction, peace and serenity which keeps him engrossed all the time at the seat of the very Self. All this is the work of the Master, and much more besides. To wash clean a jiva from the impurities of the world is no mean task, but it is absolutely necessary for a spiritual life.

He has to be pulled up from his senses, mind and intellect, and this no one but a Master can achieve. To stop the course of the mighty rush of sensory currents flowing headlong into the world, and to hold them at one center, is a gigantic task in itself. After the preliminary cleansing process, He pulls scales from the inner eye and gives it vision and Light; and He breaks the seal on the inner ear, making the jiva hear the inner music of the soul. By His individual attention and care He makes an adept out of trash and scrap - capable of understanding and enjoying the unspoken language and unwritten law of God, and of doing actions without the aid of outer organs and faculties.

He always saves His disciples, no matter how dangerous a situation they may be in. His protecting arms serve as a shield and buckler, and the disciple leads a charmed life, as it were. The Master does all this simply because He has taken charge of a jiva; there is no obligation on the disciple's part, nor does he necessarily know about it. Again, the Master takes upon himself the burden of his disciples' sins and iniquities.

Sadguru is the real friend of the disciple. He saves him from tense and hopeless situations. He comes to his aid when he has despaired of all hope and relief, and is surrounded by seemingly powerful forces arrayed against him, From time to time the disciple feels the overpowering influence of the Master working for his good. At times He works in ways that are difficult for the disciple to understand. just as a mother waits in the early morning hours for her sleeping child to awaken, in the same way, even more anxiously, the Master looks forward wistfully to the time when His disciple, steeped in deep ignorance born of matter and mind, will raise his head, look toward Him and gladden His heart.

The loving care of the Master becomes more manifest at the time of the disciple's final leave-taking from the world. The Luminous Form of the Master appears to take charge of the departing spirit and guide it to the new world, to the judgment seat of God.

After that, He takes it to whatever region He thinks best, for further discipline and advancement on the path.

Last but not least, the Master feeds the jiva with the Bread of Life and quenches his thirst with the Water of Life (Naam) until he grows into spiritual adolescence and is capable of a certain amount of self-reliance. The touch of the spark of Naam God-in-Action or the controlling power of God) burns out the storehouse of unfructified karma of ages upon ages, thus rendering them incapable of germinating in the future.

Baba Said....

Baba said, "I do not need any paraphernalia of worship either eight-fold or sixteen-fold. I rest there, where there is full devotion".

From...Shri Sai Satcharitra

All Sai devotees should utilize Shri Sai Satcharitra in the following manner:

  • Get the book, Shri Sai Satcharitra in whatever language one choose to read. Neatly wrap it in a piece of cloth, and place it near Baba’s photograph or idol with due sanctity.

  • Whether at home or elsewhere, one should always read a few pages of the book every night before going to sleep. Every devotee should try to keep Baba as the last thought before going to sleep.

  • During a crisis it should be read devoutly for a week, as is mentioned in Shri Sai Satcharitra. If possible reading should begin on a Thursday or on some other special day, such a Ramnavmi, Dussehra, Gurupurnima, Janmashtami, Mahashivratri, Navratri, etc. After its completion on the seventh day, one should feed the poor and destitute either in the Temple or at home or wherever possible.

  • One should read it sitting in some isolated corner in the Temple or in front of Baba’s statue or photograph/painting. If other people are present, then it should be read to them as well. Group reading should always be encouraged.

  • Wherever and whenever possible, it should be read continuously from sunrise to sunset in the Temples on auspicious days. Devotees may be asked to read in turns, as in done in chanting the holy name i.e. Naamjap. Encourage children to read this book. Question-answer competitions based on Shri Sai Satcharitra can be organized in Temples.

  • Shri Sai Satcharitra should be read to the devotees who are sick, aged and those nearing death as much as possible. All of them will get peace.

  • Shri Sai Satcharitra is reasonably priced book and is easily available in Shirdi. Therefore, any devotee visiting Shirdi must bring few copies with him to distribute among the people free of cost.

  • At times of stress and agony, if one sincerely searches for the answers from Shri Sai Satcharitra he will not only find the answers but also solace. His faith will grow in Baba.

  • May Shri Sainath reveal the Divine knowledge and mysteries contained in this book to thje devotees in the same manner in which He had inspired Hemadpant to write this book. Shri Sai Satcharitra should be considered by all devotees as the Gita and Bible.

Next Week.....How to utlize Shri Sai Satcharitra

Question of the Week...Devotees Asked...Guruji Answered
Question : How to understand God ?

Answer :

Every soul in the process of it’s evolution, life after life, tries to understand God slowly. Infact, this understanding of God, more and more, is the real purpose of evolution of souls. If man is better equipped with cerebral capacity than a monkey, it is for understanding God at the first stage and then realizing God at the ultimate stage that he has been given the capacity or nature has given these capacities to him. Man is a superior animal only because it has a better physical and mental machinery but because he has the capacity to imagine, accept seek and realize God. All the religions, scriptures have prescribed the methods on how one should try to understand God. These are called different paths. All the realized souls and saints have also spoken about the same. Baba used to tell His devotees at Shirdi that there are many paths to reach God. One of the paths goes through Shirdi, meaning thereby to follow Him. Any devotee following the path shown by Shri Sai Nath Maharaj will certainly understand and realize God.

Experienced Darshan / Omnipresence : Miracles

Contributed by Nagesh

Om Sri Sainadh Namah.

There are many miracles happened in my life. During my fifth semester of MCA in Chennai, I got my project work in a company in Hyderabad. There was a campus recruitment in our college at Chennai and we were called. But, I was disappointed to know that I wasn't eligible to attend any of the interviews of that company because I was lagging behind in percentages upto graduation, inspite of Good score in MCA. So, I went back to Hyderabad, but encouraged my friend to attend all the interviews. She was a bit nervous and I motivated her to write the written test and asked her to keep chanting Baba's name. The day before the exam, I had a strong feeling to go to Chennai, inspite of not being eligible to write the exam. I was in a dilemma, and again left the solution to be decided by Baba. I immediately prepared two chits in which I wrote "Go" and "Not to Go". I placed them at Baba's feet and took one of them. i was surprised to see "Go" in the chit. I didn't understand why Baba wanted me to go to Chennai. So, according to Baba's wish, I started off to Chennai. She wrote the exam and we were eagerly waiting for the results. She was not sure of clearing it. When the result was announced, Her name wasn't read out. That moment I thought "Why did you want me to come here Baba. She hasn't been selected". Then Suddenly there was a news that my friend has been selected and by mistake they forgot to read her name. I was very happy and she started feeling nervous to attend the technical interview to be held next day. Then I understood why Baba sent me to Chennai. Baba wanted me to help her, encourage her and motivate her. I stayed back in Chennai and helped her until she entered the interview hall. By Baba's Grace, She did her interview well. I and my friend were sincerely praying Baba and strived to the fullest to get selected. Once again Baba showered his Grace on us and She got selected.

I realized that Baba never fails to help His devotees. He sends someone or the other to help the needy and I am thankful to Baba for having chosen me to help my friend.

Jai Sadhguru Sainadh Namah.
